Essential Tax Deadlines: March 2026 Calendar

As we enter March, the April filing deadline stops being a distant thought and becomes an immediate priority. This month is critical for finalizing documentation and ensuring compliance before the rush peaks. Below are the key dates you need to mark on your calendar for March 2026.

March 10: Service Industry Tip Reporting

For those working in hospitality or service roles, accurate reporting is essential to avoid surprises on your W-2. If you are an employee who received more than $20 in tips during February, you must report this income to your employer by March 10. This is typically done using IRS Form 4070.

Timely reporting allows your employer to withhold the correct FICA and income taxes from your regular wages. If your base wages are too low to cover the tax liability, the uncollected amount will appear in box 8 of your W-2, and you will be responsible for paying that balance when we file your annual return.

March 16: The "One Month Warning" for Appointments

We are exactly one month away from the individual income tax deadline. If you have not yet scheduled a time for us to review your financials, please contact the office immediately. Our calendar slots for finalized returns are nearly at capacity.

Don't Wait for "Perfect" Records

A common bottleneck occurs when clients delay their appointment because they are missing a single document. Please do not wait. It is far more efficient for us to begin preparing your return now and create a specific list of missing items for you to track down later.

Even if you anticipate needing an extension, we highly recommend preparing a preliminary return now. This allows us to estimate your liability so you can pay the tax due by April, minimizing interest and penalties, while we handle the extension paperwork for you.

Standard Extensions & Relief

Weekend Rule: Per IRS regulations, if a due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the deadline shifts to the next business day.

Disaster Area Relief: Deadlines are frequently adjusted for taxpayers residing in federally declared disaster areas. To verify if your region qualifies for an automatic extension, please check the official resources below:
