October 2025 Tax Deadlines You Can’t Miss

The month of October ushers in cooler temperatures alongside crucial tax deadlines for individuals. If you secured a 6-month filing extension, mark your calendars for October 15—the final deadline to submit your 2024 Form 1040 and settle any outstanding taxes.

October 10 - Report Your Tips

If you earned more than $20 in tips this September, you’re required to report them to your employer using IRS Form 4070 by October 10. Employers are obligated to withhold FICA and income tax from these tip earnings. If your regular pay doesn't cover all withholding amounts, uncollected amounts will be reflected in box 8 of your W-2, payable when you file your annual return.Image 2

October 15 - Deadline for Foreign Financial Accounts

Should you have foreign financial interests reported to the Department of the Treasury, October 15 also marks the deadline to file your Form FinCEN 114, provided you obtained an automatic 6-month filing extension.

October 15 - Individual Tax Filers

For those who requested an extension to file their 2024 income tax returns, ensure filing of Form 1040 and remit any due taxes, accrued interest, and penalties by this date.Image 1
